If you have volunteers working within your organisation and need to request a DBS check for them, Care Check can process this for you.
We do not charge for the check itself as this is free to all volunteers, however, there is a small admin fee plus VAT.
Our admin fees range from £5.00 – £10.00 depending on application volumes. If you would like to know more about our prices for volunteers, please call Care Check on 0333 777 8575.
How long does it take to process a check for a volunteer?
Generally, 60 per cent of enhanced volunteer applications complete within 24 hours, however, 85 per cent of all applications complete within 5 days. This timescale also applies to Standard level checks.
What is the definition of a volunteer?
By DBS standards, the definition of a volunteer is a person who is engaged in any unpaid activity, which involves spending time doing something which aims to benefit someone other than, or in addition to, close relatives.
A volunteer will not fall within the definition of regulated activity if they are supervised to the statutory level, however, they will still be able to receive an Enhanced level criminal record check, but the barred lists will not be selected.
Alternatively, if an individual is a volunteer who is undertaking tasks or duties which are unsupervised, this will fall into the category of regulated activity and the individual will require an Enhanced DBS with the appropriate barred lists selected.
From small businesses to large employers and charities. We are adept at obtaining all levels of DBS Checks (Formerly the CRB) for any person within any type of industry.
